Who are we?
NOW (No Other Way) CIC is a UK-registered Community Interest Company (CIC), limited by shares, committed to addressing the unfolding global metacrisis; the interconnected ecological, economic, social, political, and psychological breakdown.
We address not only the symptoms but the shared root causes driving these crises. Our approach combines radical philanthropy, disruptive innovation, and integral development to create meaningful, practical, systemic change.
We operate at the intersection of regenerative enterprise, systems innovation, and community benefit, with the purpose of creating long-term value for society and the environment.
We bring together business, ecology, and human wellbeing to help build an ecovisionary society where people and planet come before exploitation and profit.
As a CIC we reinvest the vast majority of our surplus, with any dividends being capped at 35%.
Why are we doing this?
Life on Earth is facing an unprecedented breakdown rooted in systemic extraction and short-terism, what J. Rowson calls “the exhaustion of modernity.” We see its consequences everywhere: accelerating climate chaos, severe widespread toxic pollution levels, mass species extinction, widening inequality and deteriorating mental and physical health. Since 2000, humanity has emitted around 50% of all historical fossil fuel emissions, driving a 130% increase in global GDP while the wealthiest 1% gained more wealth than 95% of the world’s population combined. We are on track for $600 trillion in climate damage, more than all the global wealth today. This trajectory is unsustainable. To act unsustainably (killing off future livelihood) is irrational and not to act philanthropically (to do bad or cause harm) is immoral.
Everything is connected. Our wellbeing is bound to the wellbeing of others and our home planet Earth itself. Yet unfettered, predatory competition has severed this fundamental connection and distorted how we live, work, and relate to one another. Whether sooner by conscious choice, or later through crisis and collapse, we will have to change how we live. We must reimagine what it means to be human because our feet are being put to the flames of a fire we have started. As S. Lenier reminds us:
“We must aspire to an economy that doesn’t just take from the planet but gives back, creating a world where innovation, sustainability and equity are woven into the fabric of society.”
